Corporate VoIP treats all calls within an organization as local calls, even if made from different countries. It is not the country which is of significance with corporate VoIP, but the networks and internet connections. With corporate VoIP systems, phone numbers local to the host can be set up in any country in the world so that all calls to the company are charged at the local rate. Priority customers can be provided with free numbers.
Communication between offices is much simpler since it is through their internet connection. It is as easy to make a phone call as it is to end an email. Conference calls between large numbers of people in different locations round the world can be set up easily. Incoming calls can be routed to specific extension numbers by number or by name, and modern voicemail options can be applied to corporate VoIP calls.
They can be stored on voicemail or automatically answered, after a set number of rings, with a standard message. They can be automatically re-routed to another extension or even to the receivers cell phone or personal mobile VoIP handset.
Security
Corporate VoIP phone systems can be password protected, with specific lines used only by nominated personnel with their own password. Security can be set up with firewalls, though most corporate systems have multiple encryption layers for external messages. Internal security against packet sniffers can be improved by running internal VoIP messages through the corporate network with its higher security firewall systems.
At the end of the day, security in corporate VoIP telephone systems is no different to that in the corporate network itself, since the VoIP system uses the internet and intranet networks for transmission of the voice data packets,
Travellers
Company executives and representatives can plug their corporate VoIP phone into any broadband connection in the world and make calls to home office and contacts at the same price as a local call. Additionally, they can be reached by anyone anywhere dialing their VoIP phone number, much in the same way as with a cell phone, but at much cheaper cost of course.
VoIP users can also make calls to normal telephones, but again at lower cost, and when calling other VoIP users, corporate or residential, their call is completely free. There is no charge for calling other VoIP numbers. Corporate VoIP options are growing daily as companies are forced to look at all means of reducing operating costs of the company.
